Night Vision Comparison 2026

Filter by technology and sort digital, thermal, and tube night vision devices by price, range, magnification, and weight.

By Roy LloydLast reviewed: August 2026

How We Picked This Night Vision Gear

Night vision splits into three genuinely different technologies — digital, image-intensifier (tube), and thermal — so picks were grouped by which job each one actually does rather than ranked on a single scale.

Technology, not just price

A $200 digital monocular and a $6,000 Gen 3 tube system solve different problems. We separated digital, analog/tube, and thermal so buyers match the tool to the use case instead of the price tag.

Real hunting use cases

Predator hunting, blood trailing, hog detection through brush, and hands-free still-hunting all favor different devices. Picks were chosen around those situations, not spec-sheet superlatives.

Honest about ratings

Most of this category is new-to-market with limited owner review history. We did not invent star ratings or review counts — where that data doesn't exist yet, the pick stands on its specs and description alone.

Unless a page explicitly says a product was tested hands-on by HuntGearGuide, recommendations are based on product specifications, owner review data, merchant/manufacturer information, and practical hunting-use fit. Prices, ratings, review counts, and availability are point-in-time snapshots, so confirm the current merchant listing before buying.

Night vision splits into three genuinely different technologies, and their range figures are not interchangeable: digital devices report how far their infrared illuminator throws light, thermal devices report how far they can detect a heat signature, and tube devices are rated by image-intensification generation rather than a distance at all. Use the filter above to compare within one technology, or browse all three with each row's comparability note attached.

Unknown values stay visible as unknown instead of being estimated. A few models in this table needed extra digging to source a complete spec sheet, or had a listing detail worth double-checking before you buy — those are called out below the table instead of smoothed over.

Spec Notes Worth Reading

A few devices in this table have a review sample worth weighing, a listing detail that needs a spot-check, or a spec that could not be confirmed anywhere. Those are called out here rather than left unexplained in the table above.

WOSPORTS NV600 Night Vision Binoculars

Checked wosports.com official product page and the Amazon listing; manufacturer does not publish a weight or a formal water-resistance/IP rating for this model.

WOSPORTS NV400 Night Vision Binoculars Green 3 Pack

Checked the WOSPORTS listing directly (product page, not a search cache). No star rating or review count is published on the manufacturer site. Marketed 16-megapixel photo capture should be read the same way as trail camera megapixel claims — as-marketed, not necessarily native sensor resolution.

WOSPORTS NV400 Night Vision Binoculars Black

Checked the WOSPORTS listing directly. No star rating or review count is published on the manufacturer site. Marketed 16MP photo / 4K video capture should be read the same way as trail camera megapixel claims — as-marketed, not necessarily native sensor resolution.

Stealth Cam Digital Monocular, Steal Stc-xnvm Digit Night Vision Monocular

Checked stealthcam.com official product page and battlehawkarmory.com retailer listing for weight. Photo/video recording capability and a formal water-resistance rating are not published on either the manufacturer page or retailer listings found, so recording is left null rather than guessed.

Stealth Cam Digital Monocular & Camera, Steal Stc-xnvmsd Digit Night Vision Monocular

Ammunition Depot's listing publishes a 400 ft focus range but does not separately state an IR illuminator throw distance, so irIlluminatorRangeYards is left unset rather than assumed equal to focus range. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews on Ammunition Depot).

AGM Global Vision Taipan V2 Thermal Monocular - 10-256, 1.5-12x Magnification

Checked agmglobalvision.com official spec page (states '500 m/yd' rounded) and bhphotovideo.com listing (more precise 546 yd, and weight 11 oz with batteries vs. AGM's own 0.60 lb figure, likely without batteries). AGM does not publish a separate identification range distinct from detection range for this model.

Sionyx Aurora Black Night Vision Monocular

Ammunition Depot's listing does not publish magnification, IR range, weight, or recording capability for this SKU beyond the marketing description. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews). Left those fields unset rather than estimated.

Pulsar AXION XQ19 Thermal Monocular - 1.5-6X, 384x288, 17μm Sensor

Ammunition Depot's listing does not publish a detection or identification range in yards for this SKU, though the sensor resolution and magnification confirm the product name. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews).

SiOnyx Aurora Night Vision Monocular with Hard Case

Ammunition Depot's listing does not publish magnification, IR range, weight, or recording capability for this SKU beyond the marketing description. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews). Left those fields unset rather than estimated.

Pulsar Axion XQ30 Pro Thermal Monocular 2-8x 384x288

Checked pulsarnv.com official product page (states 1,150 yards) and the pulsarvision.com owner's manual, which gives the underlying figure as 1050 m (1148 yd) for a deer-sized target. No separate identification range is published by Pulsar for this model.

ATN OTS LT 320 Thermal Monocular 6-12x 35mm 320x240 Black

Checked atncorp.com official spec page for the 6-12x variant. ATN does not list a separate identification range or confirm photo/video recording capability on this spec page, so recording is left null rather than assumed.

Steiner Nighthunter H35 Thermal Monocular 2-16x 35mm 640x512

SKU 9520 (2-16x, 35mm, 640x512) matches the requested spec exactly and is the predecessor to Steiner's current 'Nighthunter H35 Gen II' (SKU 9524, 1-8x) sold on steiner-optics.com, so this SKU may be discontinued/legacy stock at some retailers -- flagging in case the catalog should instead point to the Gen II successor. Detection/identification figures used are Steiner's published man-sized-target numbers; Steiner also lists larger figures for coyote/deer/vehicle targets. No water-resistance rating was found for this SKU.

Armasight Warden 640 Thermal Monocular 2-8x 35mm Gray

Ammunition Depot's listing states 1,300m heat-detection range (converted here to ~1,422 yd) and does not separately publish an identification range or weight. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews).

AGM Global Vision PVS-14 NL1 Monocular Optic (Black)

Checked agmglobalvision.com official spec page and bhphotovideo.com listing. AGM does not publish a throw distance for the built-in IR illuminator (a close-range supplement only) or a formal water-resistance rating for this SKU.

ATN NVG7 2+ Night Vision Goggles 1x IR Illuminator

No exact 'NVG7-2+' SKU exists at ATN. The Gen 2+ family for this model is sold as NVG7-2 (green phosphor); used the NVG7-2G product page as the closest live source per the phosphor-variant ambiguity flagged in the research brief. Resolution and battery type differ slightly between the PDF spec sheet and the current product page (flagged above rather than guessed at). IR illuminator throw distance and a numeric water-resistance rating are not published on either source.

ATN NVG7-2W Night Vision Goggles 2+ White Phosphor

Ammunition Depot's listing publishes weight as 1.10 lbs (converted here to 17.6 oz). No star rating or review count published (0 reviews). Recording capability not stated — this is an analog tube device with no camera mentioned.

AGM Global Vision Wolf-7 PRO NL1 Night Vision Goggles Gen 2+ 1x

Ammunition Depot's listing does not publish resolution in lp/mm or weight for this SKU. No star rating or review count published (0 reviews). Recording capability not stated — this is an analog tube device with no camera mentioned.

AGM Global Vision PVS-7 NL1 Night Vision Goggles 1x27mm Gen 2+

Checked agmglobalvision.com official product page. IR illuminator throw distance and a formal water-resistance rating are not published by AGM for this SKU; retailer listings checked for corroboration did not add these figures either.

ATN PS31 Gen 3 Night Vision Goggles 1x 40 FOV

Ammunition Depot's listing publishes weight as 1.28 lbs (converted here to 20.5 oz) but does not give resolution in lp/mm, describing it only as offering 'various levels of resolution.' No star rating or review count published (0 reviews). Current listed price ($6,395) is already discounted from the stated regular price of $7,147.19.

Carson MiniAura Digital Night Vision Monocular (NV-200)

The most affordable and most compact device in this Night Vision lineup. Recording/storage capability is not mentioned on the listing — treated as not available rather than assumed.

Teslong TTS260 Thermal Monocular

One of the few devices in this lineup with both a published detection range and a separate identification/recognition range. 10-hour battery life and built-in 32GB storage per the listing.

Nightfox Arctic Thermal Night Vision Monocular

Very small review sample (7 ratings) compared to the rest of this lineup — weigh that against the price before treating it as equally proven. The listing states both '~100 yd' and '180m' as the detection range in different places, which don't convert to the same figure (180m is closer to 197 yd) — reported the yard figure here and flagging the discrepancy rather than picking one silently. Worth a manual re-check before this row is trusted in a published comparison.

NightStar 2x42mm Gen-1 Wide-View Compact Night Vision Monocular

The lowest star rating (3.2) of any device in this lineup — worth reading a few reviews before featuring this as a top pick. Listing specifies 10mm eye relief and a 13-degree field of view; resolution in lp/mm is not published. The manufacturer warns against use in bright light, which can damage Gen 1 tubes.
