King's Camo Climatex Rain Pant Review (2026): 10K Waterproof Protection When It Actually Rains
The Climatex Rain Pant is the piece that completes the King's Camo system for wet-weather hunting. The Hunter Pant 2.0 handles dry and light-moisture days. When it actually rains, you add the Climatex over it — 10K waterproofing, Scotchgard DWR, and the Kings Windstorm Membrane keep your base layers dry through a sustained rain event. Packable enough to carry all day without committing to it, waterproof enough to rely on when you do.
Understanding the 10K/10K Rating
Waterproof breathable fabric ratings use two numbers: water column resistance (how much water pressure the fabric blocks before leaking) and moisture vapor transmission (how much perspiration vapor passes through per 24 hours). 10,000mm water column handles sustained heavy rain without leaking. 10,000g/m²/24hr breathability is the threshold where active hunting — walking, blood trailing, packing — doesn't result in soaking from the inside out.
Budget rain gear often rates at 5,000/5,000 or lower — adequate for standing still in light rain, insufficient for a hard rain during an active hunt. The 10K/10K rating on the Climatex Rain Pant is the specification level where the pants handle real hunting conditions rather than ideal conditions.
Real-World Performance
DWR + Membrane: Why Both Matter
DWR (durable water repellent) treatment causes rain to bead on the outer fabric surface rather than saturating it. When the outer fabric is wet and saturated — a state called "wetting out" — breathability drops significantly because the waterproof membrane has to work harder. A well-maintained DWR treatment keeps the outer fabric beading rain and the membrane breathing efficiently. When DWR wears down (as it does after washing and use), it can be refreshed with spray-on or wash-in DWR treatments — the membrane underneath remains intact.
Packable for All-Day Carry
Rain pants that live in the truck are useless when you need them — the walk back in a downpour is the moment you wish you had them. The Climatex Rain Pant packs small enough to carry in a daypack alongside your other gear without dominating the space. The decision to carry them becomes easy when the incremental weight and volume is minimal.
Layering Over the Hunter Pant 2.0
The Climatex is cut to go over your hunting pants without binding at the waist or thigh. In practice: you leave the truck in the Hunter Pant 2.0, pull the Climatex Rain Pant from your pack when rain starts, pull it on over the base pant, and remove it when conditions improve. The base pant stays comfortable and quiet; the rain pant adds waterproof coverage only when needed.

Score Breakdown
The Climatex Rain Pant is the wet-weather answer for the King's Camo system. 10K/10K waterproof breathability, Scotchgard DWR, and the Kings Windstorm Membrane handle sustained rain during active hunting without soaking through or sealing in perspiration. At $109.99 in a packable form factor, it's the piece you carry all day and deploy when conditions require it — the difference between cutting a hunt short and staying out.
